Jacksonville Police arrest man after 11-hour standoff on New River Dr.

JACKSONVILLE, NC (WITN) – After an 11-hour long standoff, the Jacksonville Police Department arrested a man on several charges early Sunday morning.


Officers responded to 515 New River Dr. at approximately 3:20pm Saturday afternoon for a call from a woman who told dispatchers her 28-year-old son was threatening her and destroying property inside her home.

When officers arrived they were able to safely get the mother out of the home.

11 hours later, Matthew Daringer was taken into custody and booked on charges for Communicating Threats, Property Damage, Trespassing, and Probation Violation.

The Jacksonville Police Department was assisted by members of the NC Probation/Parole and Integrated Family Services Mobile Crisis Unit for the duration of the standoff.
